Meadowfoam Fly

Im sure those of you with meadow foam have noticed
our yellow sticky traps for monitoring Scaptomyza Fly (meadowfoam fly).  We will be checking these often to monitor the levels of the fly so we can spray before they become a problem.

In the past we have not seen fly levels high enough to treat until the middle of February. With that said this does not mean that we may not see numbers high enough for treatment. I found a great extension publication about the fly published in 2000 by Oregon State University. http://extension.oregonstate.edu/catalog/html/em/em8760/. This explains the life, detection, monitoring, and control of the meadow foam fly.

If you have any questions regarding this varmint and when to spray your meadow foam be sure to talk to your CPS field man.
