It is that time of year again for us to start pulling Mineralizable Nitrogen in winter wheat fields. For more than 10 years Tangent has been using the Mineralizable Nitrogen test for winter wheat. This test was developed by Oregon State University for use in Winter Wheat grown in the Willamette Valley. Over the next 2 weeks you will see 4 wheeler tracks in your wheat fields, basically we pull a soil sample and send it off to the soils lab and once they get the sample it takes them about 7 days for the lab to get us the results. By the end of January your fieldman will tell you what the recommended nitrogen rate is for your wheat field. If you have any questions make sure to give your fieldman a call.
